A hucul horse is one of the rare breeds of mountain horses. It was brought to Poland by people of Wołoszczyzna from eastern part of Karpaty Mountains and is bred here ever since. Huculy are quite small. Their weight varies from 350 to 430 kilograms, their average height in withers is 135cm. Despite their size huculy have a very strong back - they can carry an adult with heavy luggage easily. They are very resistant to bad weather and not demanding of fodder. They can manage on difficult paths, so they are often used for mountain trips.  Their big advantage is their character. They're calm and well-balanced and therefore easy to ride for a beginner rider or a disabled child. They live in herds and are likely to feel attached to people.
Fero Lux Huculy Horse Stud has got 40 horses and foals. We encourage you to watch the photographs of our beautiful horses on our website and to visit the stud farm which is near the hotel.
Why is it worth to horse ride with us?
Horses from our stud are very well taken care of by our staff during the whole year. The instructors are experienced, patient and understanding. Everyone who wants to learn to ride in the Fero Lux Stud will soon get to know all the qualities of our staff and will enjoy the time spent together. Because of the calmness and intelligence of huculy, learning to ride on them is easy and pleasant, both for adults and children. We've been organizing many special events and meetings for horse riding amateurs, and that's why we guarantee experience, varied program of special events and efficient service.
How to start?
First of all we invite you to visit our stud farm - both Fero Lux Hotel guests and other Korbielów visitors are welcome. Next you'll have an unforgettable adventure...:)
For beginners: at first a few basic rules how to associate with a horse, then riding on a paddock with an instructor holding the horse on a longe, after few hours of training on the paddock we offer a walk on a horse in the forest and fields near the stud; finally for persistent riders we propose a couple of hours long trail riding on Beskidy tracks. All the stages of learning we set individually depending on the needs and abilities of the rider.
For those who know how to horse ride, and who are real horse and nature amateurs our stub's staff organizes all day long rides to Beskidy's mountain shelters (Hala Miziowa, Krawcowy Wierch, Hala Rysianka, Hala Lipowska) with a meal and repose for riders and their horses.
Groups of children are very welcome - horse riding teaches responsibility for oneself and for an animal, allows to create a unique bond between a child and a horse surrounded by beautiful nature, and most of all, allows a child to develop a new passion. We encourage you to visit our stud with your kids.
What do you need for your first ride?
A perfect, basic clothing for an experienced but not professional rider is:
- comfortable, leather shoes with high, stiff upper
- breeches - special trousers
- a special helmet
For beginners, who aren't sure yet whether horse riding will become their new hobby, it will be sufficient to have:
comfortable shoes (trainers, shoes with high uppers)
- a special helmet - in case you fall down
- and some sugar cubes to make friends with our horses :)
 
What to expect from horse rides?
First of all a lot of joy of associating with horses, a big dose of good entertainment, an incredible adventure and a lot of emotions :)
Price list valid during the whole year (except special events):
- riding on a paddock - 30zł - 60 minutes
- trail riding - 30zł - 60 minutes
- couple of hours long rides - 100zł for one day
- sleigh ride - 40zł a person

Saint Hubert's Day
Saint Hubert is a patron of hunters. His holiday is on the third of November. For centuries (the tradition began in late middle ages) on that day (or on another day set by the organizers) all horse amateurs meet on a special event called Hubertus, which is organized throughout the country.
Festive events on Saint Hubert's Day were started in 1444 in Bavaria. Initially the day was celebrated by a hunting with battue and dogs. The winner was the hunter who was first to shoot a fox. The tradition of a chase survived until today, but has transformed into "a hunting without blood". Nowadays the event is a holiday for horse amateurs and the most important part of it is a chase after "a fox" - a rider with a fox-brush attached to the shoulder, who is being chased by other riders. The one who picks the fox-brush first is the winner. Then the Old Fox solemnly gives the fox-brush to the New Fox so that next year they could meet again and feel the incredible atmosphere of the greatest holiday of horse riders.
For several years the Huculy Horse Stud and the Fero Lux Hotel have been organizing Saint Hubert's Day. The chase after a fox is very popular among the adults and children. During the festivities we invite our friends, acquaintances and regular guests of the Fero Lux Hotel - this year we're waiting also for you.
The Hucul Horse Stud FERO - Korbelów
We encourage you to study the map. It will be no problem to find our stud with it's help.
It takes about 30 minutes to walk to the stud from Fero Lux Hotel - the path is very pleasant.
After leaving the Fero Lux Hotel and crossing the bridge over the stream you should turn left. About 350 m further, you turn left again (taking the Ślepa Dolina Street). Go straight ahead until the end of the road, and take the path in the forest, following the red paint signs. When you reach the grass-land, go across them.
Another way to reach the stud is to use the chairlift, which is right behind the Fero Lux Hotel. At the top of the lift you should go to "Solisko" and then take the path on the right of the ski trail. Go straight ahead, until you reach a crossroad, where you should choose the path down, that will lead you straight to the stud.
Those, who would like to reach the stud from the center of Korbielów should find the "Korbielów Kamienna" bus stop and take the road up (in the Fero Lux Hotel direction). When you reach Ślepa Dolina Street go as instructed above.
